Saskatoon Slam Team 2019

What happens when you put together storytellers, indigenous rights activists, queer poets, and entrepreneurs? You get Boiled, Soft. Saskatoon’s 2019 slam team features soft spoken but power packed poets: Ky Mason, Jaylin Schell (Javelin), Victoria Karoline, Janelle Pewapsconias (ecoaborijanelle), and Danica Lorer. They took to CFSW with a uniquely prairie perspective and voice, and they were asked to feature as a showcase on the final stage to show the nation what Saskatoon is all about.

2015 Saskatoon Slam Team

The 2015 Saskatoon Slam team (Hurt Feelings) is: Brent Chappel, d’j, Danielle Altrogge, Larissa Tarasoff and Shanda Stefanson. They represented Saskatoon at CFSW 2015 and claimed 1st place for our lovely city. Their poetry runs the gamut from gut-wrenchingly emotional to sexily hilarious to just plain silly. 2013 Saskatoon Slam Team

Danielle Altrogge has always been a lover of language. A self-identified poet from a young age, Danielle didn’t even know Spoken Word existed until she stumbled upon the Tonight It’s Poetry community three and a half years ago. It was love at first slam and she has never looked back. Danielle loves not only being on stage but working behind the scenes to expand poetry’s reach in the bridge city by helping run both Tonight It’s Poetry and Write Out Loud. A Pharmacy Technician by day, Danielle is nearly finished her Honours English Degree and...

The Judges Have Spoken!

Posted by on 11:04 pm in News, Slam Teams | 0 comments

Sunday May 19th was an incredible night that hopefully will be setting the trend towards more major Tonight It’s Poetry events at the Broadway Theatre.  It was a powerful event overall.  A memory that sticks out in my mind was when the din of the air conditioning shut off and the poetry became almost all consuming. The 2013 Slam Team has been chosen by the (corrupt priesthood) benevolent all knowing judges appointed by the poetry gods themselves. The team is as follows: Brent Chappell Brendan Flaherty Francie Millar Ahmad Majid Danielle...

2012 Saskatoon Slam Team

Saskatoon’s 2012 slam team guarantees an eclectic and arousing spoken word performance. They touch on social, political, romantic, vengeful, and all sorts of colourful human experiences through wthym, wyme, and a cadence akin to a tiger’s purr. Just come out because somehow they can’t do themselves justice through plain text. Brent Chappell Brent Chappell considers himself a born again poet. He has accepted Shane Koyczan as his Lord and Savior. He has been baptized under the spray of the poorly functioning beer taps at...
